VERY sensitive skin...should i wax? (bikini area)?

Hey everyone. Well it's the cliche, "shaving is itchy and gross..please help me" question.

I have VERY sensitive, fair skin..so whenever I shave it gets all red and itchy..UGH! So irritating. Do you think it would be wise for me to wax or is this going to be bad considering my skin type? I would ideally do laser hair removal, but I am not sure if I can afford that quite yet.

I cannot DEAL with shaving anymore. The upkeep is a pain and it is just too itchy for me to deal with. But, having hair there really bothers me! And it's not even all for vanity purposes, it is just literally in the way and I hate dealing with it.

Thanks in advance for your advice!!!

VERY sensitive skin...should i wax? (bikini area)?
One option is to wear a swim suit that covers all ur genetle hair.U cud trim the genetle hair sticking out of ur suit between ur legs with scissors. Not trying to be vulgar, but I don't find offensive as most males don't,females with hairy armpits or crouches.Seems like this issue bothers females more than males.I'm actually fed up with all the "tush trimming".I have a very hairy crouch, and if hair sticking out of my suit offends anybody, they don't have to look. Please, don't pluck ur eyebrows either, nothing looks more gross than painted on eye brows.Actresses like Denise Richards have beautiful natural eyebrows.
Reply:Try waxing. Its worth a try. You may find that it works great for you, and maybe not.
Reply:TRY A DELIPATORY LIKE NAIR HAS SOME
Reply:use pain free wax on ur bikini area waxing is good and less shaving see i have to shave all time
Reply:i would at least give it a shot.. go to a recommeded spa and dont be afriad to mention your sensitive skin...like said already. its worth a shot and you may find that its the answer to your .. excuse the pun.. hairy situation
Reply:You can get sensitive skin waxes from many major brands you just have to shop around and try things out but if your worried about the result you could go to your nearest salon to ask for advice and what they would recommend and they may be able to do that for you, also when you wax its better to do it when your not on your period because thats is when your skin down below is most irritant...So Be Careful when you do it...

*Hope I Helped!! Good Luck!! x
Reply:I read an article in Redbook that most people think they have sensitive skin, but according to dermatologists, most people do not have sensitive skin.

That being said, I would be very careful about waxing down there - I don't think waxing will prevent things from getting red and itchy.

Shaving "down there" is different from shaving your legs. The hair is coarser and needs to be "softened up" before you shave. Always make sure you are using a sharp, fresh, new blade, and perhaps shaving gel specifically designed for sensitive areas. After you have shaved, make sure you moisturize well, and apply a toner with salycylic acid to prevent in-grown hairs.
Reply:well... i have the exact same problem and my advice to u is to just try waxing on a small patch of ur most sensitive skin (like the inner thighs or bikini or something like that) just to see how ur skin can cope. leave it for a day and if u dont get itchy or any rashes then go for it. thats what i do. and i always use special cream right after waxing to keep my skin from blistering coz it kinda does that after i wax.

there r also creams like VEET or NAIR that u just apply to ur legs and it gets rid of all the hair. it doesnt hurt at all and u only get irritations if u r allergic... just try the same thing (small patch of skin try-out) and see what happens.

lemme know how that turns out, ok?

best of luck!
Reply:I have the same problem and I've posted countless similar questions over the past week worrying about an upcoming vacation lol... When I shave my bikini line I get razor burn that no one should have to see. If you have razor burn, bumps, ingrown hairs, a rash anything I suggest to try and deal with it first. Go out and buy some aloe gel, tea tree oil, neospiorn (sp?), bikini zone creams, anything to try and get rid of the irritation first. Apply any/ all of these items for the next few days and DON'T shave. Don't use any hair removal product no matter how tempting it is. Then, in 2-3 days go buy some sensitive skin hair removal creams, preferably one made for the bikini line, I usually prefer veet, but nair has a cream with aloe and other vitamins that works great for the bikini line. I'm guessing the hair will be relatively short and coarse when you try to get rid of it in a couple of days so leave the cream on for 8 min. (10 min. is max., 3 is reccomended). Then rinse the area using a wash cloth and PLEASE do not rub, for people like us with sensitive skin this will cause BAD irratation. Wait 10 min or so and don't be afraid if you see a tiny rash. This WILL go away within an hour, I have the most sensitive skin ever and I get rashes that last a lifetime but this WON't last long. If you skill have hair left over, (and you probably will) apply again, this time for 6 min. Rinse again, not rubbing. You WILL have a pink, unsightly rash but this should be gone within an hr. and does NOT itch or burn. You won't see any signs of it within three hours. If you want to speed the healing, you can use the same razor burn creams I reccomended before, but you should definitely consider silvadene cream. (its inexpensive and you can get it at any drug store) its a burn cream and your rash will be a very mild chem. burn if you have one at all. Please realize you don't need to buy all of the creams, lotions and gels I suggested above, getting your hands on one would be great. Aloe and tea tree oil are my favorite. I hear people also like to use deoderant on the bear area to help prevent irritation. I'm sorry this post was so long but I want to make sure you know what to expect. Message me or answer one of my questions with a question if you need any more info. Good luck!
Reply:try using sally hansen's hair remover. it's for legs, but you never know.. it might be like ~7 to ~5 bucks or something at your local drug store. use it in the shower and it wipes off or something. it really gets the hair out and leaves ur legs smooth, from how i use it. you might also find some good products and tips about waxing by reading magazines like seventeen (where i found that product), cosmogirl, and other magazines. look around in stores and you'll find some hair remover there that would probably work for you. just don't shave dry and make sure you moisturize the area also
Reply:waxing would be best
Reply:I had the same problem as you...very sensitive skin where red bumps would appear after shaving. I went regularly to a salon for about a year and got waxed, but I was not happy with those results either. My skin was so sensitive that I would have redness and a little swelling and the pain for me was excruciating. Plus, my hair grows so fast that I would have stubble 2 weeks after going. I had finally had enough, so I looked into laser hair removal. I am SO glad I did. I was paying so much money to get waxed once a month (about $60 for a brazilian wax). I ended up paying $1,000 for the laser hair removal, but it is so worth it! My skin is baby soft, no stubble, no shadow, just smooth, irritation-free skin. My plan included 6 sessions and after the 6th session, if you have any hair that comes back in the next 2 years, you get treated for free. So, $1,000 sounds like alot, but when you think about how much you spend for waxing, razors, special creams etc, it really is worth the money.
Reply:try it
Reply:I used to have the same problem, especially if you wear tight clothes it itches even more, anyway I had my partner waxing me completely in the private area and I don't have that problem anymore so try waxing instead of shaving. Nair wax works great for me!
Reply:i remove my hair weekly .i have the same problem as you. my solution is i do not wear any under wear. i just wear a skirt when i was out. at home i just wear a panty. and some time i dun wear at all. i understand that is not nice to let people see our private part, but i don't think is shy. i feel contable when i did not wear.
Reply:i hear about a woman who waxed the bikini area and the waxing got STUCK to her. it was a DIASASTER, i hope you have good luck with finding a way to do this though!
