Sensitive Skin, No sunscreen, Please Help!?

I have bad sensitve skin (and I mean bad!), I am allergic to sunscreen, so I cant use any makeup with it, which means I cant use makeup. My Mom says to stop trying stuff like moisturizers and makeup so I wont have the worst breakout EVER, but thats just not stopping me! Whats a good makeup brand to use that doesn't have sunscreen???

Do you know exactly what you are allergic to in sunscreen? Many sunscreens and products containing sunscreens use chemicals which can cause reactions (in and out of the sun).


It would probably be good to go to a doctor who specializes in allergies to find out exactly what it is that is causing a reaction as you do not want to have further reactions and not know the cause.





I would opt for natural products maybe try something such as Arbonne that is botanically based and does not contain harsh chemicals. Their Intelligence line is known for being very gentle and I usually recommend this line to my Clients who have sensitive skin. Arbonne has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to testing their products for irritants - not to say that a reaction cannot occur but in their clinical testing all patches have to come back at a zero for irritation.





A good moisturizer that I recommend to my Clients is DDF Moisture Dew. This is very light and everyone I recommend it to loves it.





I have a couple of friends in the business who have sensitive skin and they use Beauty Control. I have never tried the products but have heard some good things.





Also, keep in mind that breaking out can be a variety of things such as hormones, cleaning out your pores or purging the dirt and oil buried in your pores or can be from using the wrong products. It is most important for you to find a line of products that works for your skin type, give it some time to work (unless you have just an unbearable reaction) and keep to a strict routine.

Reply:I don't know. E-mail a local dermatologist and ask, or read all the lables of foundation at the store to see if you can find one without SPF in it.
Reply:Have you tried a Paba-free sunscreen? Arbonne makes an amazing sunscreen that is specifically for sensitive skin. We even have samples of it. Also, our make-up is great because it is made out of botanicals/herbs. Some does have SPF in it, but we specifically list that. Good luck!
Reply:It seems that you are only getting answers from Arbonne representatives, and those are not very useful.





Assuming you really have an allergy, which you have not proven, it is very unlikely you are allergic to all the different chemicals used in sunblocks.





You may be allergic to one of the many botanical extracts that are allergenic, and you assume that it is something else.





Try to identify what you really want. Is it make up? Is it to stop having breakouts? Is it sunblock?





Then, explain what symptoms you have that indicate an allergy. Also, indicate what symptoms you have that make you think you have sensitive skin. Maybe all that is happening is that you are using some skin care products that are not right for you.
