My mom said skin is sensitive to some metals..so when I wear earrings, it is better when I wear real gold or silver. However, some earrings I can wear. Will it be okay if I get another piercing at Claires? Is their metal oka for my skin? Please help and thanks in advance
Sensitive skin and piercings?
When I got my ears pierced at Claires, I picked the more expensive one that is like around $20. My ears were fine. When you get your ears pierced, don't get the cheapest one.
Reply:usually their metal is nickel, so I dont know
Reply:ask them if there is nickel in their products that they pierce you with, if there is, then don't go there, their earrings are cheap (no offense) go to a tattoo shop, yes I know it sounds weird, but they don't carry body jewelry with nickel in it and they use a needle to pierce you instead of a gun, which btw- piercing guns are the worse thing to ever use because they use them on every person (yea, think about it) a sterilized needle is always the best way!
BTW- If you have sensitive ears/skin, you're sensitive to nickel...my grandma and I are that way, it sucks cuz the earrings w/o nickel cost a **** load, especially when you lose them and have to buy new ones...
Reply:DON'T GET IT DONE AT CLAIRES!!!
(I have really sensitive skin, as does my friend. She got something pierced there and got some huge infection from it because she was allergic to the earing.)
Find somewhere else!!!
Reply:Most people are ok with gold or silver if it's solid. Most earrings at places like Claire's are not solid. the problem is with the cheap metal underneath the thin plating. You might be ok, especially if you've done it before, but you'd be best off going to a body piercer and getting surgical stainless or titanium. Plus, the piercing is done with a needle, which is safer, cleaner, healthier, and heals more quickly. And it's not really much more expensive.
