Oily Skin, Oily Roots & Dry Ends....but Sensitive Skin!!!?

I have oily skin and oily hair in my roots but REALLY dry ends (due to lots of dying). It's terrible, everytime I wake up I have to go and wash my hair because its greasy and oily and it looks like I haven't washed my hair for ages! I wash it TWICE a day (in the MORNING and in the NIGHT) and a couple of hours later, it starts getting greasy!

The worst thing is, I have sensitive skin and I might have a sensitive scalp too! What shampoos are the best for my condition?? I heard that clarifying shampoos are good, are they really?

I have also consulted my hair stylist and she says I have oily scalp and I should use a shampoo for oily hair. However, she tells me to use a oily shampoo and a dry hair shampoo to balance the oils in my scalp! I'm not sure if that's true!

What treatments/tricks are good? I have tried using baby powder but it doesnt seem to be of good help!

Also, will sticking to a healthy diet help reduce oily skin and oily scalp?

Help please!!!

i have been using john freda brilliant brunette for a while. its pretty good but i think i need to switch because everything starts to loose its affect after a while.

also,

i only wash my roots with shampoo

and my ends with conditioner.

this seems to help with keeping same day greesyness to a minimum.

i put biosilk on my ends when im done showering.

dont rub your hair with a towel if you can help it!!!

this makes your hair really really frizzy and dry looking.

hope this helps sweetie
Reply:Okay....probably the main reason why your hair is so oily at the roots...is because you wash it so much. your hair is used to getting all the oils washed out..so it just produces more oils to keep it moisturized. its scared...lol so...now...for about 2-3 days. don't wash your hair...yes..your hair may look nastyand greasy...but its your first time....and so anyways..go about 3 days without washing your hair. then after that...go wash your hair....and you may need to do that a couple of times just to get your used to not producing so much oil....because it thinks its gonna get washed..but just try to show it its not gonna get washed. then when your problem is fixed with that...DON'T wash it twice a day...only one. and when your going through that little 'trial' of not washing your hair 3 days...dont brush your hair alot...just enough for it to look nice, dont touch it alot, and don't use alot of hair products, keep using the baby powder. and wear a headband or something to hide the excess oils.

okay...a shampoo thats for dry hair is supposed to moisturize...not oil your hair, moisturize it. so when your hair stylist said to use a shampoo for oily hair and a conditioner for dry har to even out the balance...well i dont know if its true..because all the conditioner is going to do is just moisturize the hair...not really stop your hair from being oily...if anything it might activeate your oil glands even more...so here...try that for a little while what ur hairstylist...and if it seems to stay the same or getting worse...then only use the shampoo for oily hair on your scalp and a conditioneor for dry hair on your ends...make sure to really deep condition your ends.

i hope i helped.
Reply:Of course a well balanced diet is great for your skin and hair as well as your scalp not to mention, your over all health. A great way to balance ALL of your hair and scalp problems tho is NIOXIN products. They have lots of vitamins and minerals and also contain Melaluca extract(tea tree) to help balance out your scalp to promote a healthy growing environment for your hair. Since you color your hair, use the system for color treated hair. It will fix a miriad of scalp and hair problems. A little pricey, but WELL worth it!!! Even if you just use the cleanser and scalp treatment you will see results in about 2-3 weeks! About this time of year, salons put "2 For..." packs on sale. Some are 2 liters for $35(a HUGE savings!!!)! I use it myself, I have dry scalp in winter, and oily in summer, it sux! But since I've been using NIOXIN, I have no worries!
Reply:When oil production goes overboard, its usually due to the fact that your hair is very dried out at certain parts, like the ends, though still relatively healthy at the roots. Or, it may even be because of the length of your hair. One of my friends has very long hair - down to her waist, and she is an asian as well. She has to take very special care of it. Her doctor orders that she washes her hair 2-3 times a week. Why? Well, when you wash your hair excessively with products, it builds up residue and it triggers your body to clean it all out with its natural oils. This can affect your facial skin, as well as skin on other parts of your body. For the next couple of times, try washing your hair with just water. Since your hair may have already suffered some damage from dyeing it, you may want to get a monthly 1 inch trim. It sounds horrible, but it will actually speed up the growing rate of your hair. Also hold the dye for a while, you may be making your problem worse if you keep on drying it out. If your problem persists, you make want to just cut off a majority of the length of your hair - but only as a last resort.
Reply:well, you dont really neeeeed to wash your hair at night do you? I understand it might get itchy but after a few days your body should get used to once a day washing, and will stop getting really oily and will stop itching due to the oil.

your scalp can get accustomed to less showering. its only making your hair as oily as it it because it "knows" its going to be washed, cuasing it to have to make moreee to replenish your hair.

i know people (who, well, knew people from back then) lol who only washed their hair weekly or once evry few weeks but because there scalp got accustomed, there scalp produced less oil (cuz it wasnt needed)

Reply:Have you tried Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree Special Shampoo? This product is wonderful for oily hair and smells good too. For dry, itchy, flaky scalp, you might want to use baking soda. This really helps that condition as well. You can apply the baking soda to your scalp after having rinsed your hair of the shampoo residue or you could apply it at the same time as the Tea Tree shampoo. Both are excellent products that will help with oily hair and dry, flaky, itchy scalp, and they are good for your skin as well. Try it; you might just like it. Eating healthy food helps too; try to avoid eating greasy french fries and other greasy, oily foods; eating too much chocolate is not good for you or your skin either. Remember, all in moderation. Drink lots of H2O (water). This helps your skin and works wonders. Good luck!
