Guinea pig sensitive skin issue?

Aloha! I have a long haired guinea pig, who has severely sensitive skin. She's seen by a vet on a yearly basis, and everything they've given me for her skin SUCKS. She does NOT have mites or any fungus, but her skin ,mostly by her back fur is just red red red. Its so sensitive. :( I just gave her a HUGE hair cut, because brushing her has become painful to her. She LOVES the short hair though, popcorning and everything. She feels so much better. I just dont know what to do for her skin. The vet recommends this and that and this and that, and has given me this and that and this and that. But again, it all sucks. What can I use to relieve her from this sensitive skin!! I feel so bad for her, and just with for her to be comfertable. Is there anything orally I can give her that will reduce sensitive skin? I tell you, she's got the worst personality to have long hair!! Any advice would be much appriciated. Thanks!!

Guinea pig sensitive skin issue?
I have a teddy piggie that has very dry and sensitive skin. I also work w/ a rescue that has recommend that I wash her w/ Selsun blue shampoo. Normally, we don't recommend washing piggies w/ human shampoo but they swear that this works for teddies and texel piggies which are prone to skin issues. I hope this helps. Sounds like your poor baby is having a rough time of it. What kind of bedding do you use? You may want to change to something different. I use fleece (w/ a layer of puppy pads/newspaper then folded towels on top of those and then the fleece). The fleece wicks away the moisture. Or there's always aspen which is pretty good or Carefresh. Good luck!
