Every time I shave my legs, my skin rips. It's pretty painful. Since it's summer, I need to wear shorts and skirts all the time, but I'm really ashamed of my scar-y legs. What should I do?
Also, my skin gets very itchy after shaving. (so much that I can't help but scratch it.. and then the skin tears again). I'm pretty sure I'm allergic to anything from Bath %26amp; Body Works, so does anyone know of lotions/creams that are good for sensitive skin?
(By the way, right now my routine is using Aveeno body wash for sensitive skin to shave, and then putting on Eucerin anti itch cream after shaving. It's not working as well as it should)
Any help is much appreciated!!
Extremely sensitive skin... how should I shave my legs?
One of my own favorites is, massaging in jojoba oil, which is a great natural ph balancer for the skin. (Available at health food stores). If not that, then olive oil. A little goes a long way, and both will help with your sensitivity before shaving. Then, at your local grocery store get a small box of whipping cream. You will need an electric mixer; hand held is what I use. And beat at low, adjusting to high once the whipping cream starts to thicken. You will know it's done when it resembles Cool Whip. This is pure cream and very soothing to your skin. Milk afterall is a natural skin softener. Look at Cleopatra and her milk baths. Apply to your legs, not heavily and shave. You shouldn't have any problems with your skin becoming painful.
You can store the leftover cream in an air-tight container for about a week, and you can also use this on your face as a mask. Leave on for 5 minutes then rinse off in cool water.
What's so great about this is, it's natural without any harmful chemicals which cause an allergic reaction with sensitivity to your skin.
Enjoy!
Reply:use the shave cream from aveeno and see ur dermatologist-u might need mediciated lotion for ur legs-the aveeno shave cream helps u shave less often-
Reply:umm i think there is some shaving products by "Nair" for sensative skin. i think it is defiantly worth a try.
hope it helps
Reply:My daughter and I have sensitive skin and we just started to use the Venus Breeze and it is working great so far. Also don't use lotions after shaving for up to 10 hours.
Reply:Make sure you buy razors for sensitive skin. Also buy shaving cream that's meant for sensitive skin. Use a lot of the cream, do it slowly and carefully. I think you'll have good results. Good luck!!
Reply:well first of all, THROW OUT THE RAZORS! i mean, that could really give your skin infections. go to the drugstore like walgreens and find an electrical razor(the one that pulls the hair out). it's more painful, but you wouldnt have to shave your legs as often. the metal shouldnt irritate your skin, but if it does, go get your legs waxed, or try the "nair" products. if none of those work, get lazer surgery on your legs. it may be a little expensive, but it's better than having an infected leg.
Reply:Nivea skin care products. They add very needed moisture and is very gentle. I'm the same way. Don't use soap to shave unless it is Ivory (clogs pores and dries skin), gilette sensitive skin shaving cream is okay. Bathe with oatmeal, baking soda or epsom salts in the bath, to help your skin retain its moisture.
Reply:hi. my sister said that instead of shaving your legs you can buy "nair." in case you dont know what that is, it is a lotion/cream that you rub on your legs and leave it on for like 5 minutes. then, you wipe it off and it removes the hair. you can buy it at any regular store for a cheap price. good luck!
Reply:Oh Gosh! I cringed when I read your question. I am so sorry that you have had to endure so much. Ok, first, your razor has to be very sharp or it will tear and leave a red rash. Also, the products you are using have 'known irritants' in them. They are used as fillers because they are inexpensive but they cause numerous people lots of problems. Fragrances, chemical dyes, harmful alcohols among others are very irritating. Also, any product that uses Mineral oils, vaseline, petroleum, glycerin. These are all derivatives of crude oil. (Yuck!) These ingredients are occlusive meaning they block your pores so no moisture can get in and toxins can not get out. No matter what "beneficial" ingredients are in that product, they will never get into the deep layers to heal your skin. They just sit on top like saran wrap. Blocking everything. Your skin can not breath. Animal by-products or human by-products are just discusting and should never be used in our skin care products. (Google "Animal Rendering Plants". You will be shocked.) Fragrances are used to mask the stench of that fowl smelling stuff. You need to try Arbonne's Intelligence line or even the Baby Care line, which is for very sensitive skins. TRUTH! Arbonne uses ONLY Pure, Safe and Beneficial ingredients. We are a European Health and Wellness Company. All 400 of our products are botanical and herbal based. We own our own formulas which are patented. There isn't anything else like them on the market. Check out www.CindieReed.myarbonne.com and click on "Products".
Reply:Go to a health food store and get as bottle of unscented apricot kernal , almond, or rice bran oil.
You can use it to shave and also mix it with your favorite lotion to heal your dry skin.
It sounds like you have an allergy to whatever cream, soap or shower gel you are using . Try something gentle even one of those baby bars from cvs and see if the itching goes down,
I like to use handamde oatmeal soap. I get it all sorts of places online and offline at health food stores. It seems to cure the itch .

You can also take a warm bath and add a cup of whipping cream or milk. Even soy milk seems to work. The lactic acid in the milk softens up your skin.
Adding oats feels great too provided you put them in a tea strainer or muslin bag.
Good luck
Reply:Arbonne?? Their products may work, but I would definitely try else where first. Keep in mind each time you buy an Arbonne product you are supporting a company that treats employees horribly. A couple years ago it was bought by Harvest Partners and since then the company has just been about profit. They don't care about their employees, the unethical practices of upper management or of many of their consultants. They took want was once a decent company and destroyed it. Trying to force it into a corporate giant. Forcing employees to work 12+ hours for days at a time was not unusual when I was there. Please do not support this establishment
Reply:Use a cream hair removal ummm..... you can find it at wal-mart.
Reply:Well, I was going to suggest Aveeno products. Get the Aveeno shaving gel to use as well. Also, DO NOT USE A CHEAP razor. The disposable ones mess my legs up, too. Get one that you can change the blades on. I use Venus razors. I think they are good. You will probably need to change the blade out frequently when it starts to get dull. Maybe you could see a dermatologist as well. They may could tell you what ingredients you are allergic to.
Reply:I suggest Mary Kay's shave and body lotion, we carry a line a skin care products for all skin types and all ages.
check it out for yourself.
Good Luck!
Reply:use shaving cream and make sure to rub some sort of moisturiser with a cooling agent like aloe in afterwards. also, dont go against the grain. you'll be fine!
